Extremely moving song. Charted at #7 on UK Singles chart in 1955/1956, and #85 on Billboard Hot 100. Original Billboard review: "The imposing tenor voice teams up with the Mantovani orchestra and chorus in an impressive production. It's a big effort and the pairing could generate spins." Also recorded and released as singles by Joanie, Johnny and Hal in 1960 and Patrick Dane with the Mark 7 in 1968.

Released as a single in the UK in November 1955, and in the US, January 1956.
